Hemodialysis access allows your blood to reach the dialysis machine to be cleaned. There are several types of hemodialysis access, all of which are placed with a minor surgery.

  • Graft makes an access by using a piece of tubing to join an artery and vein
  • Fistula makes an access by joining an artery and vein directly
  • Catheter makes an access with a tube placed in a large vein
