BOSTON – Boston Medical Center Health System (BMC Health System),  an integrated academic health system focused on clinical innovation to meet the needs of all patients, has announced the appointment of two new system leaders and two expanded roles to support the integration of Boston Medical Center-Brighton and Boston Medical Center-South while further strengthening its executive leadership team’s broadened scope. These changes reflect BMC Health System’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible, and sustainable healthcare in the region.

David Cook has been appointed Chief Human Resources Officer. He will oversee human resources strategy, planning, and operations for BMC Health System's multi-faceted organization, supporting the health system's vision to drive growth, innovation, and equity for patients and health plan members across Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Cook's deep expertise in cultivating workplace culture and developing talent strategies that align with an organization's mission will be a catalyst for BMC Health System's progress. Cook joins BMC Health System from AccentCare, Inc., a nationwide leader in post-acute care, where he served as Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Chief People Officer.

Jason Sanders, MD, MBA, has been appointed Chief Clinical Officer. This newly created role will oversee efforts across the health system in population health, value-based care, and network management and will provide oversight of our physician organizations. Sanders brings extensive experience across all dimensions of this portfolio in his career to date. He recently served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Officer at UVM Health Network and President & CEO of the UVM Health Medical Group.

Newly expanded BMC Health System executive leadership roles include:

  • Joe Camillus, MBA, MPH, has been named System Chief Operating Officer to formalize his existing role in overseeing operations, operational excellence, and financial performance across BMC and its two new hospitals, BMC Brighton and BMC South.
  • Anthony Hollenberg, MD, will add the role of System Chief Physician Executive in addition to serving as President of Boston Medical Center. In this role, he will continue to oversee all health system Chiefs of Service as the organization continues its integration journey, as well as the BMC leadership team in their collective work to drive hospital performance and clinical quality.

"This group of proven leaders brings the vision and expertise needed to evolve how we care for our patients, members, and employees across a fully integrated health system," said Alastair Bell, MD, MBA, President & CEO of BMC Health System. "Our team is prepared to expand the reach and impact of our health system, delivering advanced care, treatments, and research, while also building lasting community partnerships that improve lives beyond our walls."

These appointments and extended roles will accelerate BMC Health System’s progress toward its mission and support efforts during a critical time of growth and transformation.
